Travel tips
  • Book the cheaper government ferries in advance, or private ferries (Makruzz/Nautika) for comfort.
  • Fly into Port Blair on a deal — flights are the biggest cost; islands themselves are affordable.
  • Snorkelling at Elephant Beach is a cheap way to see the reef; scuba is the splurge.
  • Carry cash — cards and network are patchy on Havelock and Neil.
